My name is Sandra Backwinkel, and since 2016 I have been accompanying weddings on Mallorca as a wedding singer, most often together with my guitarist Hernán Filippini. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of accompanying more than 200 couples on one of the most beautiful days of their lives.

In 2021, I also began working as a wedding celebrant, naturally becoming a singing wedding celebrant. This actually came about by chance. I had planned a weekend trip to Ibiza with friends when my husband received a very last-minute request for a wedding ceremony on Ibiza that same weekend. I immediately said, “I’d love to do that.”
After a Zoom call with the couple, I delivered my very first wedding ceremony – and instantly realised how fulfilling it felt to dive into a couple’s story, their visions and their wishes.

At the same time, music has always been a deep passion of mine. I love accompanying ceremonies as a singer, which is why I now combine spoken ceremonies and live music, allowing me to bring together two passions in one role. Most couples book me for the combination of a personal ceremony with live music, often followed by musical accompaniment during the drinks reception.

That’s why I always like to start with a no-obligation video call via Zoom, FaceTime or Skype – so we can get to know each other and see whether the chemistry between us feels right.

Hernán has been my musical partner on Mallorca right from the very beginning.
I first met him in 2015 on a small street in the heart of Palma. He was standing there with his guitar, microphone and a small amplifier, making music. At that time, I was looking for a musician to work with, as I wanted to start singing again after a longer break from band projects and performing.

I approached him, and since Hernán speaks excellent English, we were able to communicate easily right away (my Spanish wasn’t very strong back then).
Hernán is Argentinean and a true musician at heart. He is incredibly reliable, always well prepared, and a genuinely kind person. From our very first rehearsal, everything simply felt right – and that’s why he has been my preferred musical partner ever since.

If you wish, I can also sing to instrumental backing tracks, but in my experience, live music adds a special depth and emotion that recorded music simply can’t replace.

Together, we are also able to accommodate individual song requests outside our regular repertoire in most cases and adapt flexibly to each moment. For example, once the bride has walked in and greeted her partner, we can gently bring the song to a close and seamlessly transition into the ceremony. This sensitivity and musical flow are incredibly important to me.

I truly couldn’t imagine a better musical partner by my side.
